bush administration backs plan to increase manufacturing jobs
"Take, for example, their (bush administration's) newest solution to the shrinking number of manufacturing jobs in America: Issue a decree that fast-food workers are manufacturing employees."
Lord knows the chipotle burrito peeps are doing some serious manufacturing.

This is one of those crazy things that I can't believe anyone lets happen. Even for people that voted for Bush, how can you not see this as pointless posturing? Bush wants to be able to say his employment forecast isn't so bad by re-classifying people from a service industry into another.
It's basically phony accounting, done right in plain sight of our very eyes. Didn't we bust a few companies for doing stuff like this? Moving money around to look better to investors?

It's like when I went to "service industry" night at a bar and told them that I worked in public service, so I should get the specials too. They didn't take too kindly to that....unfortunately. But yeah, this is bullshit on a higher level than that. I just wanted cheap drinks, not manufactured numbers for votes.
I don't get the Chipotle shout-out though. I really don't have anything against them (in fact the one by where I work has virtually no turnover, so they must be doing something right with their employees). Still stymied by the link though.

I think all he's implying Ufez is that they're incredibly successful, at least here in the Twin Cities. Everyone get their free leap year burrito? Damn.
