I am hallucinating. Or, this is just peculiar. One of those things that makes me feel as if there's a big joke that everyone else gets but me. (see also, everyone blogging the little-girl-with-the-bike recollection.)
I found nothing any stranger than the Prince of New South Wales usually has on his front page, but could he have been beta testing a new piece of Flashturbation (his TM, not mine) when you first clicked the URL?
One other explanation, and I would NOT expect it of TheLileks, but, usually when I link to WrongWayNeale on the front page of MetaFileter, it's because I've lost a bet...

Wish I could participate... but it must be a PCs-only inside joke thang. Which, of course, calls into question the value of it... but that's another thread entirely.

It was an exact dupe of the Metafilter site, current to 12:42 PM PST. Spooky. It's gone now. I would love an explanation, but I hope I never get one; every day needs some mystery.

heh, so many conspiracy theories.
Neale needed an NT host for his site, so I offered space on this box. He went through various hoops at his domain host and his site was offline for a couple days. I hadn't realized the changes had gone through until this post, so I went in and did the server gymnastics to direct requests to his site, which is why you saw metafilter earlier today. And that's it.

I worked for a long time with an ex-texan. He'd been in Australia for a number of years, and had almost lost his accent.
On one project we were doing some heavy-duty work for Coca Cola; part of it involved a week long (50hrs) of powerpoint presentations with them. They had guys fly in from Atlanta to attend, bringing with them their broad US accents.
By the end of the third day, my friend's old accent started to poke through; but though everyone else had noticed, he hadn't.
He finally caught on when, towards the end of the fifth day, he said "Y'all pay attention now" and the entire room cracked up.

I think Matt's a total stud for hosting Neale. Especially given the potential civil and criminal liability that might result...
