Veterans Implosion.

Another stadium bites the dust. Make sure to avoid the Veterans stadium, South Philly area Sunday, unless you would like to witness the destruction first hand. Next on the chopping block? (Insert desired stadium demolition). But coming new in 2004, Petco and Veterans replacement Citizens Bank Park.

Well, count in myself and pretty much every other Philly resident.

The new park looks great. I'm glad they threw in a bit of homage to Shibe Park.

It's my understanding they're cordoning off a huge area around the Vet -- no people, no vehicles...anybody got any tips on where to watch?

Extra points for saying, "TV" -- that would be funny!

the best spot is the holiday inn right next to the vet, unfortunately all the rooms are booked. I'll have to watch a rerun of the destruction seeing how I'll still be passed out at 6am.

I am hoping Shea goes next. It needs to be replaced in the worst way.

Yes, but will the new park have a courtroom and jail cell like before?

My girlfriend wants to go see it happen. Haha, silly girlfriend, 7am doesn't exist on Sundays!

The destruction of Three Rivers Stadium here in Pittsburgh was live on three local TV networks. Didn't check if it was on the radio. The funny thing was that the new Heinz Field was pretty much built at the time of the implosion... glass windows and all. People watched to make sure two stadiums wouldn't go down at once. (They didn't. But the Steelers may have....)

The love/ hate relationship I have with olympic stadium will make me happy when I see it go and sad the day after, still, I hate that place, and love the team that plays there. So torn.
