Yeah, I stumbled on that a while back; I'm pretty sure he's one of our members, though I don't remember which... Beautiful stuff. Don't miss the menu bar hidden in the lower left-hand corner, which is full of beautiful flash experiments and animations and whatnot.

To get the close-up shots, I placed off-the-shelf magnifying glasses directly up to the lens of the camera.
Hmmm. Will have to experiment.

More Gukanjima. I don't think the photos are as beautiful, but the feel of the place is still there.

The ice photographs are stark, gorgeous. I've seen them once before, but I can't remember where. Thanks for bringing them back to my attention, specialk420.
On the other hand, I remember where I first heard about Gukanjima. We had a front page post on Gukanjima two days ago.

We had a front page post on Gukanjima two days ago.
oops - how did i miss that one. last week was kind of a busy one for this kid. speaking of ice and art - andy goldsworthy's stuff - featured in ny times mag a week ago is work a look as well.

beats me clever sheep, seems innocuous enough to me ... what kind of filters do they have out there in healthcare land? with weather like this we'll never make out lawn bowling huh? :)

i know he's been publicized heavily the past few years, but andy goldsworthy is indeed most super awesome. i highly recommend looking for his art books in used bookstores and checking out the movie Rivers and Tides if it's showing in your area. it's all over the US and Canada this year.

Gorgeous. I've tried to photograph ice before (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. 10), and it's exceedingly tricky to balance lighting and background.
