Kevin Hulsey. Technical illustration Portfolio.
These are insane drawings. I wonder if he's using a 3-d modeling program + illustrator or what. It must take hundreds of hours to do stuff like this.

Wow.
He claims to be using Illustrator. But surely he has some tools that automatically perform the distortions and extrusions.
Check out his tutorials. They're awesome!

There's no reason to expect he's using automated tools for the perspective. An actually talented Illustrator artist can do just about anything, and make it look easy.
Do you remember, many years ago, Bose running a series of print ads on the theme of "We don't make X, but if we did, it'd be like this?" One of those ads pictured the hood of an exotic sports car with a Bose logo on the nose. I assumed it was a photograph until I saw an article on how it was put together. All Illustrator, baby. Blew my mind but good.

Looks like he's doing it the hard way. Which is to say, "Holy damn." This guy's awesome.

I expect he's using automated tools simply for the efficiency of it.
