WXYC, the oldest web radio station celebrates ten years today. Chapel Hill, NC. Pretty good station too.

Rock on and congratulations. I grew up near there, and XYC was my favorite radio station, hands down. (When I could get it...this was pre-"Power of Tower.")

Do they still have those cool "alphabet" T-shirts?

And they have a cool commemorative CD compilation, too, available for free download.

I'm one of those folks who's had his nose pressed up against the window of Metafilter waiting (for what seems like years) for new user signup and the opportunity to post1.

Not that anyone will ever see this, seeing as how I'm posting it a month later, but by incredible coincidence WREK started streaming on the net the very same day, and we2 called ourselves the first.

Note 1 -- Now that I'm in, I'm all for closing the doors, or moving to a once-a-month entry window, or charging more, or whatever.

Note 2 -- I put an enormous amount of energy into running WREK between 1988 and 2003, particularly the last 4 years. Moved on these days though.
