I didn't win.

I didn't win. But Mr. Kottke gets his props in Slate. Now I'm wondering whether that is good or bad.
I'd be curious to see the correlation between the number of entries and the appearance of the contest on Kottke, MeFi, and the rest of the blogging community.
I work for (grumble) a Marketing agency and so we spend alot of time using the word "leverage" in reference to different communities, especially online communities. I've wondered (to myself) about just how large and powerful a community bloggers can be if used correctly.
Imagine if someone paid a Kottke-like weblogger to talk about a certain product. What? You think your favorite morning show personalities do skits and bits around certain events in your neighborhood because they actually LIKE that stuff?
Now I need to convince my boss that my pitiful site traffic is worth $5,000...

I got my free TiVo Wednesday--the 30-hour model. I immediately cancelled my subscription (I had to pay the $9.95 for one month that I'd agreed to when I entered the contest, though I almost wriggled out of it). I've registered on eBay, and am planning on listing the box on Monday, once I write some snappy ad copy. Lessee what my $9.95 investment brings me....

Perplexed, if you know anyone at Olympus USA, by all means have them ship a C-3030 digital camera to me immediately. I'll quietly convert my sites to "photo blogs" and pimp the wonderful features daily. From my position, I stand to spread the wonders of high end digital photography to the masses. I can be that tastemaker, I am a one-man tipping point.
It'll be between just you and me. Shhh, keep it under your hat.

Olympus won't crack, Matt. Lord knows I tried. I pimped the fabulousness of my C2000-Z for *months* and I know I sold more than one unit for them... and I got squat. Of course, I'd be willing to give them another chance.

Anybody seen that Tivo commercial where the dad is trying to make his son like manly sports, and ends yelling at the boy for dancing around like a figure skater? I am very disappointed in all of you for supporting this homophobic product.
Mr MoonPie, the sunglasses next to your ebay name, and your zero rating, make me think you are suspicious. I am watching you. Seriously, I hope you make a lot of money off it.

But somehow I think $150 is a touch ambitious, though I could be the first in the UK to own one....Nah, I'm holding out for a Cuecat :-)

So far, so good. My minimum bid has been met. We'll see how things go over the weekend.
