Was I the only one who saw a big ape in the middle of that?

I'd like to see a steelcage match between this monkey and that boxing orangutan from Every Which Way But Loose.

ObLibrarian: chimps (and orangutans) are apes, not monkeys.
Taxonomically speaking, of course.

I stand corrected, but... dude, if a monkey can do a spinning back kick, I'll call'em anything he wants!

That chimp/monkey/ape (never could tell them apart) probably has more self-discipline and focus than I'll ever had.
Hell, back in 5th grade I only got up to white belt... and the have to give you that one.

The sad thing, while this is amusing, it's no more effective than teaching a bear to dance, i.e., it is a series of motions learned by the animal in response to commands, not in any way related to actually knowing a) how to fight or b) the true discipline of a martial art.
The best thing that can be said for this is that is it a prime example of Americanized Karate (or Americanized anything from another culture).
Then again, if they taught the animal Jet-Kun-Do, he'd probably be levitating while in an oom trance.

Ha, ooops, (finds the actual window to close) pardon me, that was from the count the stars videogame a few threads back, which I still had open in another window. I hadn't put my headphones on until I clicked this movie and accidentally thought it was a midi file attached to the movie. On reflection they do go well together, the kungfu monkey and the Count the stars theme.

I wasn't pointing fingers, hughbot; I think it's pretty well accepted that something posted three years ago is fair game. I was just surprised that the karate chimp is going around the internet a second time.

Well, see, there's the problem: It's not a monkey, it's a chimp.
Coming over from Monkeyfilter, you've got too much monkey on the brain. Did you realize that it operates in a way similar to heroin or cocaine?
I say we should have bus ads warning people not to spend too much time at Monkeyfilter. It's our only hope.

What happens when the army of monkey ninjas turns to "The Dark Side"!!
We'll need a better equiped army of Pirate Badgers to take 'em out!!
Of course, then we'll need a fleet of flaming, flying sharks-with-laser-beams-on-their-heads to control the badgers...
