Nerdfilter "The community blog for weirdos like you."--just opened and trying to emulate Metafilter, without the politics...take a peek.
Nerdfilter?
It's only a matter of time before the guys from this place saunter over and beat them up.

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls AND Ken Nordine?
So far, this appeals so closely to my demographic that something in me just rebels out of habit.

Neat. Just made a post. The interface blows for the most part though, but I do like the category system.

Since i'm new around here on MiFi, whats your guy's take on websites like Nerdfilter. Are they welcomed or just shunned as another non-original website.

What's the software behind it? The PHP version of the Mefi source?

Meowch: As a long-term mefite addict, my experience has been that from a statistical standpoint, other sites that excel at things MF doesn't tend not to have 'filter' in their names. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a market for apolitical William Shatner paintball news.

I just discovered INTP Central, a forum for INTPs, a subset of nerds.

jonson: I'm almost certain that it's WordPress, one of the more popular CMS/blog tools.

Does that mean all the whiners will leave us alone now? They can go play with the soft touch bojanglers.

I didn't know with WordPress you can make a community blog, that is, one where anyone can register and post to the front page.

Actually, I just feel left out, as I'm decidedly non-techy. So nyah.

Would love to see it. Been tinkering with FreeFilter a bit, and I'm always looking for a new project...

Holy Cow, that INTP site (or the idea of it) is intriguing. I usually score as a INTP, although I hover right to the "T"side of the middle of the T/F, so I occasionally have scored as an INFP. I'm close to the middle of the P/J line, too, but I don't think I've ever scored as a J. I'm way introverted and intuitive, though. Anyway, INTPs sound like people I'd be really comfortable with. Which is sort of creepy, really. Kinda insular? But, hey, I'm a "johnnie", so I don't know what I'm worried about. I probably lost that battle long ago.

Also, kudos to skallas for the nice site. I prolly should look at it more, but I sense that I'm not quite a member of that particular variety of "nerd". Though nerd in many ways I surely am.

"nerd" is relative, isn't it EB? I signed up, even though I'm an NNNETP (not nearly nerdly enough to play). For what it's worth, you'll always be a nerd to me.

Skallas: I used b2evo for the backbone of Viewropa. I understand WP and b2evo are fairly closely related so if you ever need any help then just ask. Not that I think you do, just offering.
I'm hoping to do a "skin" for b2evo for people who want to build a mefi of their own then everyone can get the benefits of an active open source community.

Actually, to be fair, being a hardcore sports fan is one of the nerdiest endeavors on earth if you think about it. It involves heavy duty stat obsession, fascination ith obscure historical lore and a love of arguing the merits of obscurities, this constitutes nerdity.

I'm not sure exactly why it's Nerdfilter... I mean, half of the stuff looks like /.-type FPPs and the other half is just interesting stuff. Not that I don't find the content entertaining, but it doesn't seem particularly nerdy.
Then again, the fact that I find all of it interesting, and I'm a nerd, sort of answers my own criticism.
