SA VIGNAC. Welcome to the world of Raymond Savignac, the greatest poster artist of all time, and inventor of the little Bic man. Joyous, naughty, simple, elegant, and beautiful.
Worth it at least for the BIC drawing.
*squints* I had no idea it was a little schoolboy. Hm.
Thanks.

Well, I thought it was cool.
Well, it is cool, but perhaps it's a little like Norman Rockwell for the Americans, i.e. something so embedded in the local culture (by being so ubiquitous at one time ; his circus image is still being used today) that its appeal has trouble crossing borders, let alone oceans. In any case, his images, like those of his colleague Cassandre (in a totally different style), really defined the look and feel of the French equivalent of Americana for half a century.
