Limmy killed the video player

Limmy: Pop star, Betamax Jockey [Macromedia Flash, video with sound]
Um.....I don't get it. Sounds just like some normal techno song with some jackass dancing around. This is "extraordinary vocal talent"? What does the VCR have to do with any of this? Maybe some more information with the link would have been better?

I like his dancing and his attitude, and the song's decent, but I don't get it either. Perhaps he should have used something really ridiculous, like a giant fish or a larch.

I think the point of this is to make fun of a common occurrence in the live performance of electronic music. I am a DJ and I adore electronic music, but I have seen guys do these same sort of poseur maneuvers during a set/performance. The idea is to maintain the illusion that you are doing something that is much more fantastic than what you are actually doing.
Don't get me wrong, DJing can be very difficult. And making music is always respectable in my opinion. But there is still a lot of fakery that happens, and I think that this video does a great job of parodying that. And when a performer is all the way up on a stage (or in a booth), you have no idea what they are actually doing. So instead of twisting a knob in time with the beat, they could just be moving their hands inside a VCR.
To be fair, I have only seen a few DJs do this. I have seen far more DJs/performers who really were amazingly adept, and they put on a HUGE show. Like everything, it depends on the individual.
