Or not. Though I did like the iPod chick flipping the bird!

After a cursory glance, this one seems like far more fun than the first.

Beautiful cables
Such beautiful cables...

I want to wear the iPod earphones attached to my 1993 walkman... it'll be all laughs till I get knifed.

I need to get one of those titanium boxes. I'm a sucker for anything that includes a green light.

"Apple iDom blocks dirt dandruff and dirty looks"

At least this is the better of the Apple mock-ad photoshop threads posted today.

Park the car at the side of the road
You should know
Time’s tide will smother you
And I will too
When you laugh about people who feel so
Very lonely
Their only desire is to die
Well, I’m afraid
It doesn’t make me smile
I wish I could laugh

Clearly you should be buying the iMug to go along with your headphones, antill.

whats funny is the Mysteron looks like the Mac Mini
posted by ShawnString at 5:06 PM on January 12, 2005

ShawnString, Mysteron is the AirPort Express with the ports Photoshopped out. Though I can see how the white threw you.
posted by esoterica at 5:13 PM on January 12, 2005

Nicely put, orange clock. Might I add:

You can do what you want to do
You can say what you want to say
You can think what you think you want
It doesn't matter anyway

My AirPort Express has the green LED on the side, but yeah...

"iPod-shaped Wedding Cake"

This should have been the first spoof, it's a lot better. Now it just seems mean.

Lord help us, it some sort of lame, outdated group backlash. Sorry y'all didn't learn Photoshop until after this stopped being funny! Steve Jobs alter... whoda thunk it?

Wow. Apple users are really touchy!

posted by eyeballkid: Wow. Apple users are really touchy!

Yeah, agreed. Furthermore:

They got little hands, little eyes
They walk around tellin' great big lies
They got little noses and tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes on their nasty little feet

That map is pure falsehood.

All this obsessive Mac parody/praise/speculation stuff is iTired.
posted by davebush at 7:29 PM on January 12, 2005

Davebush, i wish i had the luxury of scoffing at the attitudes here too. But in fact, i was made nauseated by my boyfriend & his pal equating non-pc with windows users, and mocking them whilst praising apple shamelessly and behaving with exactly the same attitudes seen in the link....

Oh...the retching feeling returns...

Squirrel: I see a lot of rich kids in my college town whose parents have bought them imacs for their dorm rooms/apartments. I see a lot of poor kids on scholarships with shitty PCs that work fine for writing papers. The latter group is no less progressive than the former. (I like macs, but come on. That map is stupid.)
posted by Tlogmer at 12:57 AM on January 13, 2005

Sorry to double post, but that's really the crux of it: the division between mac and pc users is mostly a class division: macs are (mini excluded) more expensive than PCs. They're great, but people are acting like they're something other than a luxury consumer item.

Normally I respect your posts, but the assumption PC user == uncool == republican really pisses me off; it seems like the type of thing someone living a sheltered upper-class life would say.
posted by Tlogmer at 1:03 AM on January 13, 2005

I see where you're coming from, Tlogmer. I think you misread my intention. The map is a snag from the 2000 voter turnout. I was drawing a parallel between that and the grating divisiveness between Windozers and Macheads. I'm sure many Dems use PCs and Repubs Macs. I know at least one cool person who uses a PC, but then he is cool in a deliberately confounding way. ;^)

Generally speaking, I agree with your point about class difference, although I've never been what anyone would call even upper middle class, and I've had many Macs. They retain value for years and years, so I tend to get them used a year or so after their release... right after Steve Jobs parts the waters with his newest offering that everybody just HAS to have. The early joiners chuck their year-old models at a bargain rate.

I think I'm at risk of losing my will to live with the Mac vs. PC debate...

It is an funny page, but in a futile attempt to steer the thread somewhere else, from the same site I thought this was great.

From your link:
"iPODs to be given to every child at birth. "

mmm -- now lets discuss if that would be a good thing! ;)

iPODs to be given to every child at birth.

Damn it. I had to pay for mine.

I liked the idea of turning the M25 [insert your nearest freeway turned car park] into a garden.
Oh and I want a ThoughPort (tm) as well.

Meanwhile, in Venice at the Accademia, they were using Ipods as audioguides, which i thought was very cool, and a perfect use for them.

Rush Limbaugh is a huge Mac Junky. Just sayin'.
posted by delmoi at 7:33 AM on January 13, 2005

Thanks, qwerty, that's some funny shit...although the laughter comes with a touch of melancholy occasioned by the knowledge that none of that is ever going to come to pass.
posted by Stonewall Jackson at 7:38 AM on January 13, 2005

Whatever happened to putting rebuttal links in the threads they're rebutting? Every goddamn comment has to be an FPP now. While yes, this is better-done and funnier than the last one, that ain't sayin' much.

All it tells me is that dissing Apple is even more important to some people than Apple is to the Mac faithful. Yawn.

Now that was fucking awesome, fungible.

See folks, it was actually "funny" and "original." Shouldn't you be writing this down?

I'm an Apple lover who thouroughly enjoys seeing Apple get the piss taken out of it... when it 's done well.
