The White House turns 200.

While Canadians brag about having burned down the White House, this is one of many articles that contains the truth: it was the British who did it. The Canadians were still toadying to the doomed Empire at the time, and were not, in fact, an independent nation.

Mo, we've always blamed the British, in my memory. We never cared where the recruits came from, just whose uniform they wore ... ;-)

I think Mo may be referring to a 3 Dead Trolls (too lazy to dig up a link to their mp3.com site) song. They're a comedy trio from up here, and the song I'm thinking of sings about how we won the war of 1812 and burned down the White House.
That's really the only time I've heard it referred to as Canadians burning it down, as opposed to the British Army. Even my (Canadian) high school history class referred to the soliders as Brits.
It is FAR from their best work.
