Neon signs along Wilshire Boulevard (and other places in Los Angeles). A collection of photographs, part of a larger website dedicated to public art in LA. (Also: MONA, the Museum of Neon Art.)

Sorry, I don't know how to post a link. Please don't slam me, maybe someone could tell me how.

Write the word you want hyperlinked. Hit the 'link' button below the preview box. Enter URL address in the popup field. Press OK then press preview. Check that the link works. If so, press post, if not, fix the URL and hit preview again, check it then post it.

MONA is fun. Thanks for the link to the neon signs site, bradlands.
WaterSprite, that site is very fun. I love the tagline: "Art too bad to be ignored." Classic.

Gordon, I've actually been to that museum and seen the actual pieces of art! (I humbly admit that I am a member.)
You can't imagine how bad they are in real life!

More neon and non-neon signs at the American Sign Museum.

WaterSprite, I looks like the artist has to be trying to be good though, right? Otherwise, I could populate a museum like that all by myself.

Gordon, you've got a point there. My parents have a small museum like that of stuff that my brother and I did as a kids in their basement!

I highly recommend the MONA if you have a free afternoon wandering around downtown LA. It only takes a couple of minutes to look around, and there are some fantastic pieces of Americana and new neon artworks to oogle. Very very cool.

You know, as a died in the wool New Yorker, I really always wanted to hate everything about LA, but whenever I go there I find so new bugged out/decayed/accidental bit of art to be amazed by. It's an intensely American city in a way that others aren't. I guess it's because LA is such a new (while still being old, in an Art Deco, fedora and fins on cars kinda way) city, relatively speaking. This is cool, it makes me want to reread "Ask the Dust" by Fante.

That's a nice collection, but would it have been too much trouble to take pictures, I dunno, when the neon signs were lit?

Thank you samh23, that took far too long. Neon signs during the day are just signs.
