Book deal shmook deal

Move over, Wil Wheaton and Belle de Jour. Book deals are a thing of the past, and publish-on-demand is where it's at. Some bloggers like Tony Pierce and Anti have published their best blog excerpts ("blooks"), while others like Jamie Boud are more creative, using it publish new content (I guess this is when the micropatronage pays off). But Cafepress isn't the only option, and there are definitely many helpful sites out there. Previously discussed here.
if anyone uses the word 'blooks' anywhere near me i may be forced to punch them. hard. in the face.

may i say that the books ive made via cafepress ended up looking awesome. i recommend CP to anyone who wants to make small batches (1-300) of books. and the price is remarkably cheap.

"Book deals are a thing of the past..."
Shhhh. Don't tell my agent.
I don't have any problems with PoD (I use it myself for a couple of things), but 1) it's not an "either/or" situation and 2) PoD is as unlikely to get rid of traditional publishing as any vanity publishing set-up has been over the years. PoD is simply a better alternative for people who previously would have gone toward a more expensive vanity publishing route in the past, since among other things it requires no cash up front.

I'm still upset over the use of the term "Blog". Damn them, now I have to explain to people that the Blog Game doesn't actually involve people posting their often worthless opinions to the Internets.

Do you have a link to this Blog Game you speak of, Mr. Encyclopedia?
