How gracious of the commies to use such homely females in all their propaganda.
I guess that kept everything non-threatening for women or something.

Maybe they wanted to portray more of an "everywoman" or maybe they wanted more matronly women? But maybe your decadent, imperialist eyes have distorted your image of beauty?

redteam: I imagine the propaganda producers wanted women to aspire to be industrious, rather than chase vanity. The women on the posters are probably meant to be role models.

I'm no expert on this sort of stuff, smcniven, but I think what he's doing has something to do with locating the source of a radio signal by using triangulation.

smcniven: The caption talks about "fox hunting," in quotes, but I'm guessing it's a metaphorical term for what crunchland says. The part in red urges "fox hunters" to take part in the competition for the championship of the USSR.
Nice find, crunchland!

Marvelous find crunch, great images and great colors. Oh and thanks for the coral cache, fake - I keep forgetting about that - it made a huge difference.

Yeah, this is great. (And jon: nice one!)
Heh. Have you actually heard the song? And do you know who's name "Nikita The K" is a riff on? I've endeared myself to a lot of old guy bartenders by knowing the answer.

I'm guessing Murray the K? And/or Nikita Kruschev?
Naah, if ol' Kruschev had a nickname, it was probably Nikita the Shoe.
