why blog the marchFIRST careers page? because the third emplyee from the left doesn't even work at marchFIRST. he works with me at Leapnet. hee!
I have a feeling they're not doing so well. After all, they just laid off ONE THOUSAND employees this week.

for the record, the guy i mentioned in the link wasn't laid off; he left a couple of months ago on his own. but i do think it's a) funny that the careers page is even there, b) unscrupulous to keep a testimonial online from someone who left the company, and c) indicative of all the problems web dev houses have been having in the past few weeks.
if rumours from their chicago office are any indicator, they're a pretty sickly organization right now.

Man, their home page has one of the highest ratio of buzzwords I've ever seen. Looks like a great candidate for Buzzword Bingo:
We help companies build visionary business models, brands, systems and processes, empowering them to transform their business, drive innovation and become market leaders.
What a load of meaningless fluff! No wonder they just laid off a thousand people.
By the way, have I mentioned lately how much I despise the word empower?

MarchFirst failed to disclose an accounting trick in Q3 led to an earnings shortfall. Wall Street punished them with a 60% stock drop, and they responded with layoffs.

As a dedicated employee of marchFIRST for over a year, I could do one of two things -- give an impassioned defense over the company, or give everyone more fodder to make fun of marchFIRST.
Duh, what do you think I'm gonna do?
First off, the name. Actually, the name jokes are old. Make it known, however, that all abbreviated references to our company are not "mF," or "M1" (which our office personally likes... has that hip, urban feel to it) but "MRCH," which is our stock symbol. Our three-and-a-half-dollar-a-share stock symbol. Excuse me while my plans for financial prosperity evaporate.
Our website. Good lord, man! The original marchFIRST webpage didn't even work in Netscape Navigator, and using the nav bar in the new version of the front page is akin to trying to get off one of those airport people-mover thingies. Try it, you'll see what I mean. Has anyone seen the marchSECOND site?
The commercials. We're sorry. We just work here. From the commercials, we're not really sure what we do either.
But other than that, I like working here. Swear to god.
