CommonTunes.org, a community directory of freely distributable music. With tags.
Also see CommonFlix & CommonBits. Oddly enough, the site itself is "All Rights Reserved". Pity about the color scheme.
It's a cool idea. You're right about the color scheme. I wonder, what's wrong with http://www.archive.org/audio/?

There's nothing wrong with the colour scheme. Refreshingly neutral and straightforward, I'd say. Nicely ordered content too.

Cool. Like the colours or not, I submitted mine (look for "Apostrophes & Catastrophes"). Thanks signal.

Looks great. Gives me an incentive to get some of my stuff recorded...

Do it, danb. You can do it at home. Get a decent condenser mic, they're not that expensive nowadays. Look to Sound on Sound (UK magazine), the Mixmasters group and of course AskMe for advice. If there's any incentive to be had, it's the current climate. Go for it.
