huh? The world plays the sport. Many Canadian NHL teams have relocated to the USA.
As far as hockey being played for sport, imho Canada wins hands down looking at all their leagues.

I loved this. I saw it advertised on FARK and thought of posting it here, but forgot to because I was busy training to become an NHL player.

raedyn, yes. Lots of us. The Portland minor league team has a rabid fan base and well-attended games.
I prefer to watch hockey the same way I prefer basketball: at my house with all the comforts of home and no noisy shriekers, obnoxious drunks, parking problems, or traffic jams.

P.S. I have never been good at skating backwards, so I thought standing in the net might be my niche. I failed the goalie test. *cries* My career is over.

I ask as a proud Canadian that has more hours of NHL beamed into my living room than all other TV viewing combined.
I'll be really curious to see as the season goes on if the lockout has had an effect on attendence (& TV ratings) in the US.
My career is over.
Don't worry, Cran. I failed the goalie test on the first try. So I tried it again. And failed more miserably.
