The Ricksha Arts of Bangladesh "This website is dedicated to celebrating one of Bangladesh's unique popular arts, the paintings and decorations on the three-wheeled cycle rickshaw"
Interesting! I'm in Bangladesh right now (relatives are here) and I actually rather like rickshaws. Thank you for the links; they will be something to share with the family.

Nice. There are a couple of these parked permanently outside an Indonesian restaurant in Calgary. Sadly, those two have fallen into disrepair as of late, but it's super cool seeing more of the breed.
neat - reminds me of those painted semi-trucks in India from a link a while back.
Or Filipino Jeepneys. Or North American lowrider/chopper/kustom bicycle culture.
The urge to take a standard transportation device and decorate and/or customise it to look super bitchin' is probably as old as the wheel. It's nice to be reminded of its universality.

Excellent post. I got to try to pedal an unpainted one on the Embarcadero and though I consider myself a pretty strong cyclist, it was hard.

arto -- hah, Jeepneys were the first thing to come to my mind, too. Lelilo -- those trucks are great! If I ever learn to drive, I'd like to decorate my car. If I'm going to spend all that money on it, I might as well make it look like mine, y'know?
Neat post, dhruva.
