The Marmaduke-id and the Phil/society-superego combat each other in the person of the Dottie-ego.

Wondermark An Illustrated Weekly Jocularity. While you're there, be sure to check out Malki's Comic Script Doctor columns (in particular his Freudian interpretation of Marmaduke).
Best of the web, for sure. I'm looking forward to his analysis of Family Circus as racist (as well as unfunny).

I love this one. And I forgot to mention, his The Making of Wondermark bit is pretty damn good, too.

I thought the critiques of comic strips were all more-or-less on the money.
Or maybe I'm just feeling charitible because the guy remembers, as do I, that Garfield used to be actually quite funny....

It's nice to see the details of artistic merit that was so shat upon the by the mundane Arlo and Janis. It's obvious they sweat blood but it pays off.

Well, I wasted too much time on the Comic Strip Doctor. In this instance, "wasted too much time" = "read it all and wanted more".

This stuff is great! I'd been meaning to check out The Comic Strip Doctor for a while, and now that I have, I can do naught but gaze awestruck at its perfection.

By the way, that last post was completely serious. I literally have not done anything but stare blankly at the Comic Strip Doctor page for the last 6 and a half hours. And I've enjoyed every second of it.
