ZZ Top to play Dubya coronation. Yessir, America's forgotten hair-farmers will no doubt be rocking the frat...er...White House with aplomb. Think Cheney will do a kegstand?
Three words:
Coolest Inauguration EVER!
(And you thought Fleetwood Mac was cool!)
Now, if we could just get Jethro Tull....

FWIW, here's the Texas House Resolution declaring ZZ Top Day back in '97.

Does this mean that Dubya will inherit the keys to ZZ Top's hot rod from Clinton?

Hm. Maybe they'll do "Velcro Fly" or "Woke Up With Wood" in honor of the departing President.

Maybe they'll do "Arrested for Driving While Blind," "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide," or "My Mind is Gone" for the new president.
And maybe "2000 Blues" for the rest of the country. (Partisan humor, woo!)

ZZTop? Blah! If Dubya let Ginger MacKenzie play at his inauguration, then I'd be impressed.

Excellent suggestions, Waxpancake. (Partisan, my ass; I'll happily mock a buffoon regardless of what party he belongs to.)

Golly, I hope so.
I was in the gated suburb of Houston for Christmas a few years ago (is it Richmond? I think so, but it's gone now) where one of the guys from ZZ Top (never found out which one) has a mansion and a motorbike course, and the Bushes had property in the same little "community" (which was surrounded, if I recall, by a prison farm - it creeped me out). They're neighbors, dude.
So this pairing seems like a natural.
And hey, the Reagan Years been beddy, beddy good to the Beards.
The creepier one was when the Brian Setzer Orchestra played the RNC in '96. That burst more of my bubbles than this.

Makes sense to me. ZZ Top's music = simplistic, outdated, and painful to listen to. Dubya's political views, ditto.
