The Lifelong Friendship Society

The Lifelong Friendship Society produces some comfortably disjointed art/video/music/writing that is sometimes incredibly cheesy. (quicktime is pretty much required for all these links)
I love this. Thanks. It's exactly what I wanted to see.

So, this is an ad agency, right? Everything I saw on their main website seemed to be produced in support of commercial ventures... even the love thing called cheesy in the main post is for something called PTA which, funny ad aside seems to be some sort of corporate thing (or maybe a band?).
So are they artists or marketers posing as artists (I guess my question really means, are the people with the talent making money off their talent, or are they employed by people exploiting it)? Is there even a difference?
Do the kids to day even consider it selling out? Or are they selling out, or putting one over on the man?
Fuck if I know. Thanks for showing me a nice ad agency website I guess.

Whatever - if he gets paid by MTV and VH1 for making movies that totally make fun of popculture, probably having a good time while doing it, I don't think that's selling out or "putting one over on the man." I like a lot of artists whose personal style is in vogue right now with trendy companies, and it's a good + interesting place to be as an artist/designer, because you have the chance to shape emerging aesthetic trends and get exposure beyound the elite underground art scene.
Anyway, looks to me like it's one guy who likes to make art, and happens to do some commercial work.

LFS is a broadcast design company. It's three guys (started as 3 guys + 1 girl) that work out of New York. They've got a pretty big following in the motion graphics world, and have reached that enviable position of "getting paid to make whatever the fuck they want", mostly because they're good at it. They're a talented bunch, and nice guys to boot.

And apparently, it needs patients.
