My Life in France by Julia Child (discussed here, and here) has been published posthumously with the assistance of Alex Prud'homme.
Excellent, thanks grapefrutimoon. Your post couldn't be more timely - I was looking for a gift for the upcoming birthday of a friend who is a wonderful cook. I've given her so many cookbooks and kitchen gadgets - this seems like just the thing since she is a francophile too. From the except, it looks to be a good read.
I spoke to Julia Child briefly once when I was touring WGBH. She was in her mid 80s and still an imposing figure. What a voice, what a presence! It was an ever so fleeing encounter, but it sticks with me.

We got this for my mother-in-law for mothers' day (she LOVES Julia Child) and so far, she's enjoying it.

Neat post. I'd love to read this book. Good cooking shows make me feel peaceful and at home, even when I'm not. Julia was such a warm-hearted being.

Juliea Child was one hell of a chef. I remember watching her shows as a child - later in life learning her cardinal rule of always having a glass of red wine at hand whilst cooking :) I remember wishing she was my gtrandmother so I could pop around to her house for a chat and some great treats.

Child seems to be an American Fanny Cradock; only not completely terrifying, and a better cook.
