Clothes for the sophisticated guinea-pig-about town. Don't forget to check out their wide selection of hats.

I do find the clown costume a bit creepy though. Image waking up in the middle of the night with that sitting on your chest staring at you.

*shudder*

Some child part of my mind automatically says awww, remembers trolls of yore, another part charmed by the sheer silliness, another is amazed by the artistic expertise in making what my grandmother would call "those cunning little clothes" and the rest is kind of horrified, wonders about the ethics of inflicting this er, whatever it is, to defenseless creatures. Still disturbingly enjoyable. Thanks for this fun post ozomatli, I'm kind of dying to know what a doctoral student in physics thinks of this.

How odd, a few years ago a friend and I went to a pet store and noticed they were selling tuxedos for ferrets. We joked that the outfits were made for the "ferret-about-town".

'Tis funny to see someone else using the same phrase to describe similar costumes.

I have been around enough guinea pigs (my gf loves them) to know they really don't give a damn about anything other than getting carrots and timothy hay. I have to admit I find gp's to be a bit useless as a pet, but hell if I had to have one I would make sure it was nattily attired. Ethics? Well some guinea pigs do need the extra warmth in the winter thats for sure. As long as you don't keep the clothes on 24-7 (imagine the stink and mess of that) its ethically cool in my book.

As I said before though, this is a bit creepy:

it thirsts for human blood....

I thought we were talking about the ethics of posting this...

...and, just to get it out of the way early:

I, for one, welcome our new natty guinea-pig overlords.

I get the uncomfortable feeling that something sordid and wrong is about to happen to that poor creature.

When you get tired of dressing your guinea pig, why not try guinea pig with dressing.

If the guinea pig is too young/small, they will walk out of the costumes.

I would add, too young, small or SMART.

By the way, who is Timothy Hay?

I would never worry about guinea pigs being too smart for anything.

Timothy Hay is a type of hay that guinea pigs go ape-shits for. You crack open a bag and they start sqealing thier heads off.

my guinea pig goes pretty crazy any time she hears me rustle any sort of plastic bag. she wigs out for timothy hay but even more for the refridgerator- that means lettuce is coming.

anyhow, there is a whole sick industry for dressing up guinea pigs. mine won't even let me put her harness for her lead hon her, let alone something like this.

These sorts of things tread that fine line. On one hand, it's probably not painful and the guinea pig probably doesn't care what it looks like. On the other, clothes are certainly only for their human's benefit and don't really make the guinea pig's quality of life any better.

You must know that you cannot mention "Richard Gere", "Guinea Pig" and "insert" in the same sentence in polite company.

You can also walk your guinea pig. Ideally while it is wearing a cute outfit.

i've yet to figure out a way to take my guinea pig on a walk. i wasted money on one of those stupid harnesses. she must be smarter than me.
