I've been there...where the fence just goes off into the ocean.

And here it is on Google maps.

California’s most desolate and unknown beach is desolate and unknown for a reason. It has no name, no facilities, no parking lot. There are no signs for it inside Borderfield State Park.

When was this written 1980? Not only does the park have a parking lot, it has bath rooms too! As far as the place being filthy, that was once true, but after the installation of a multi-million dollar sewage treatment plant, the levels of toxicity are about the same as most beaches in So Cal.

It really is a nice place to visit and the volleyball thing doesn't surprise me at all. There hasn't been a time yet when my family hasn't stared across the fence at a Mexican family staring back at us, usually ending with all involved laughing at the absurdity of the giant ugly fence.

Interesting post.
