Something fishy is going on here.

Am I supposed to feel bad for this guy? He's convicted in a court of law. Sound like he's where he belongs.

Can we have links to the locations and activities of all detainees and enemy combatants? Or just a really big chart?

I heard somewhere that he was American.

I dont get the thing about them searching his shoes. I mean, FFS, he's not likely to be making shoe bombs in solitary confinement out of his filed down toothbrush stump.

This is all well and good, but what I'd really like to read about is a window into a terror suspect's isolation.

Sounds like he's a lot better off then the people who havn't been convicted...

Perhaps there will be room in this facility for the criminals currently operating in Washington for the next two years.

It's a shame that this is the way the justice system does its dealings, but this guy is a real terrorist, not an average muslim guy labeled as one in this climate of fear. He tried to do worse things to the people of your country than even your government (surprising, I know). He tried to kill every single person on a passenger jet. Maybe you'd feel less sympathy for him if he had used a knife instead of a "silly" shoe bomb?

Fascinating story. Thanks, KAC.

Whilst I don't feel bad for the guy, I can't applaud the regime. It is cruel. Don't fool yourself; it is a cruel regime. We can argue about the necessity for it or even the wider benefits that justify its cruelty. But do not deny that it is cruel. That would be silly. After all these poor guys get a black and white TV with rather limited channels. Fucking evil.

Fuck all that tho, I've a mate that went to school with Mr Reid. It's his claim to fame. And mine...(

Doub...oh, I see what you did there. Apparently he was convicted, I guess that's a thing now.

Who the hell has expressed sympathy?! I think we all agree that this psycho should rot.

Oh, and for the sake of thread quality, here's a previous MeFi post about Kwame James, who helped to subdue Reid on the flight he was trying to bring down. It's a good story.

Facinating article. Seems like it's damn-near impossible to escape from there.

The article is presented in a tone that seems to justify anger at his imprisonment. I guess the conditions could be better.
