AUTECHRE *LIVE ON AIR*
December 29, 2006 1:36 PM   Subscribe

Get in on the stream while there's space, because Autechre is doing a boomtastic live DJ set full of 80s electronica, mashed up weirdness and god knows what else... more links posted in the thread as I think of them but I have to hit post now because it's time sensitive.

Wasn't this live yesterday, fleetmouse?

Mandatory Wikipedia link

I do hope they'll pursue a different, looser direction like this on upcoming releases, backing out of the crispy corner they've backed themselves into on Draft 7.30 and Untilted.

retronic: and it continues! I dunno, maybe they're passing the baton back and forth, trying to set a new record?

Much thanks, fleetmouse.

daaaaaaamn the bouncy thing they're playing now is fantastic. It sounds somewhat generative but holds together and has soul. It could be something old, with an acid line generated by taking the batteries out of a 303 and putting them back in, which I've heard is how they did it in the olde days.

You're welcome, BP.

BTW there's an Autechre radio set from last year on zilty's torrent page, and I expect this one will go up there eventually too.

Hey, does anyone know who did this cover of the Blade Runner end credits music?
posted by fleetmouse at 1:54 PM on December 29, 2006

Sounds almost like Incunabula-era Autechre.

Incunabula is one of my favorite Ae albums. That and Confield are in my desert island list. They really let the instruments breathe on Incunabula. Ace production.

This has already been going for over 24 hours, it is anyones guess how long they will last. I think I will wait for the torrent.

update: webmaster confirms this set will be available on the bittorrent page.

Yays!

Fleetmouse:

Hey, does anyone know who did this cover of the Blade Runner end credits music?

Could it be the American Orchestra version that was released in 1982 in lieu of the Vangelis recordings?

Ah, Incunabula..."Bike" on endless loop has gotten me through many a hairy night of bit-flipping.

Wow, they've got some really chunky FM-synthesis sounding lines in here... reminds me of stuff on OCRemix, which I guess could be a compliment or insult - I choose A.

Damn stream is up and down like a yo yo... supposed to be back soon but it might be a rerun at that point. Oh well.

Whoa - there's a whole load of cool stuff in the downloads section... now I just need to either (a) clean up my photo library, or (b) buy a new hard disk... hm... lessee - which is easiest? :)
Nice find - thanks!

Yeah, the downloads section is amazing! And LEGAL for a change, whoda thunk it. Thanks so much for this.

Sorry Afroblanco, the stream's down and the link to it is gone... check out the bittorrent section. This show should be all up in there soon.

Ack, the set has been pulled for now, will be back later.

Earlier:

"OK, I now have the set split up into 30 parts. Total runtime
is 27 hours. All silence and bufferings issues have been
removed.

I will make 5 zip files which will contain 6 parts each and
add them to the torrent page within a few minutes."

27 hours?!?

Oh man, they're broadcasting another one! Again! Now! Woohoo!

Yeah I saw that. Go Ae go!

Downloading these sets is gonna make for a nice belated Xmas gift.

I think they are playing their entire music collections here... there was just some fantastic Mantronix era electro hip hop mashed up with sorta acid house stuff, then some Roedelius sounding stuff, and now something I can neither describe nor classify... :-)

It is really nice stuff... The kind of music they + Plaid + others have talked about growing up on (but have stopped making largely). I have to do some work for a project due January 1, and this is keeping me awake+kicking.

the only multipart thing i see on the downloads page is from 2005. did they pull it again?

I listened to a small part of last year's. I can't wait to get my hands on the latest one(s).

I have to be in a specific mood for (most of) autechre's music, but when I'm in that mood there's little else that scratches the itch as well.
