Put the bunny in the box... Back at ya Justin (previously). The world is going to hell, but at least we still have laughter. This smile is for sale here.

Check your links before you post them.

Also, five steps is a hell of a lot harder than three.

Crap, first post sorry.

'sfine. Those who haven't seen the original box thing can probably reenact it for themselves in their caves in Afghanistan.

We ran out of Sorry at 10am, EST on the 26th. Pick up your bag and move to the next line.

For those wanting it, the link to the original "DICK IN A BOX" thing was posted here.

I guess I was just a bit excited, it being my first time and all. I was looking for that somethin special to pop my MeFi postin' cherry. Now look at the mess I have made.

Uh, also, don't go to that link, as it's ad-heavy, and this one is YouTube and better.

Meh. The box thing works if you're a man. If you're a woman and you can hold a box like that, I do not want to see whats inside the box.
posted by hal9k at 4:08 PM on December 29, 2006

still, this is better than the 'boobs in a box' thing that was on boingboing. yeesh, that was horrible.
posted by joeblough at 4:28 PM on December 29, 2006

it's still pretty horrible.... not funny

Boobs in a box. Funnier in concept, but the "singing" will make your ears bleed. Don't say I (and joeblough) didn't warn you.

They should use that at Gitmo.

Whenever I think of a box in a box I picture someone cutting out a womans reproductive organs and putting them in a box like something out of Se7en. Anyone else?

Late 2005: SNL makes us virally LOL x 1000 via Internets after airing Digital Short about Narnia.
Early 2006: People, in reaction to the SNL short, produce original, amusing responses and perpetuate the fun.

Late 2006: SNL returns with a similarly LOL-inducing short, this time with a celebrity guest star and an uncensorced version available online.
Late 2006: Having observed the reaction to 2005's short, opportunists with little creativity but a lot of editing software rush in and create parodies before the meme itself has sufficiently taken hold.

I'm amused. The Narnia responses spread virally and after some time, the way that one would expect such a meme to evolve. The immediate Box responses is a testament to how much impact the original Narnia video had and the fact that they are both so terrible will hopefully discourage others from jumping on the bandwagon so quickly in the future -- it would suck to see online video become as generic and common as indie t-shirt retailers have become over the past several years.

Hell yes the banana suit fire is hillarious!

I just didn't find that response or parody or whatever it is very inventive or funny. She is way too serious about her singing. No need to make it personal.

She is way too serious about her singing.

That's what made Timberlake's performance so hilarious (and all those SNL digital shorts for that matter), the seriousness. This was miles better than boobs in a box.

thanks for the link :)

Congrats on your first post MapGuy. Thought the video/song was hilarious and actually a decent (haha) pop song.

That's the shtick, man. It's a goof on a "romantic" R&B video.

Oh, and don't stress over your first fpp, MapGuy. It'll pass. Everyone here had to suffer over theirs, too. (Well, everyone except for the folks who pick stuff apart but have still never gotten the nerve to post anything themselves... and you should ignore them.)
posted by miss lynnster at 9:03 AM on December 30, 2006

No I'm not quoting Hitch. I'm quoting Christopher Hitchens, of Vanity Fair, who wrote an article, much discussed here, claiming that women are not funny. Try to keep up.
posted by spicynuts at 12:08 PM on December 30, 2006

Christopher Hitchens is a comedy GOD who probably wrote this song before he'd even had his first Gin and Tonic.
posted by Sparx at 3:32 PM on December 30, 2006

None of you understand comedy. This was a very funny thing. I liked it a lot. The song must have been written by a man.
