A short history of Richard Foreman's Ontological-Hysteric Theatre. // "[Richard Foreman's] 'Strong Medicine' (Quicktime) is the kind of mad, risky venture one hesitates to interrupt." // A recent interview with Richard Foreman. (Youtube) // "This website contains hundreds of pages of unedited text which Richard Foreman is making available freely for use by theatrical authors/directors from which to create plays of their own." This post confused the hell out of me until I realized you weren't talking about Richard Feynman.

On one hand, I really like Foreman.

On the other, I think that if Beckett could have seen the eventual impact of his plays, he would have stuck to novels.

Something about the Ontological-Hysteric Theater really reminds me of the Museum of Jurassic Technology. Even the websites have some common design themes. Also, I think both artists have won MacArthur Fellowships.

Charles Mee also puts all of his plays online and for free for use by theater playwrights and directors. As well as Kirk Wood Bromley I guess it's a bit of NYC playwright fad.

But I think it's the good kind of confused, and not this-makes-me-want-to-abolish-the-NEA kind of confused.
Interesting post.

Ah richard foreman. Talented actors, lots of ideas and far too many drugs in the playwright and nowhere near enough in the audience.
