Metababy is back and in full effect, I think I was the first to modify it!!!

well, I wouldn't say it's in full effect. It's in previous effect, however full that was. Like I should talk.

*cough* ticketstubs! *cough*

I never could get into this metababy. It's sort of like a Wiki, no?

I totally dug the (old) metababy@ version.

Yea!!

Metababy is my favorite website to play with when drunk.

Though I'm not sure why..

Hm, it looks like metababy@metababy.com no longer works.

It's sorta like a Wiki...but instead of being about content and discussion, it's about dynamic web development and exploration.

Similar technologically, vastly different in practice.

If it's back, why do I still get "Metababy will reopen Feb. 19," etc. when I go there? Am I missing something?

And the proper link for Wiki should be WikiWikiWeb...if you'd like one of your own, I've been very happy using ZWiki to run GweezleWiki.

Okay -- just played with it a little bit... the one great thing about the old one was that it was way cool to see how long your creation would stay at the top. If you made something really cool it could stay for awhile. Make something lame and it went away pretty fast.

With this... there is nothing to do but make it go away. It's like a constantly erasing bulletin board. What's experimental or interesting about that?

I think the only reason a Wiki can work is if there is a sense of collaboration going on. Metababy doesn't seem collaborative at all. And... it's all anonymous.

I dunno -- does anyone dig it?

Speaking of Wikis and things like them, I'd like to take this opportunity to plug Everything2. Hoo-hah!

And don't forget Sketchzilla, which is sucking bandwidth from me even as we speak.

Intellectual masturbation for sociopaths!

Hey peeps, let's not get the power-up and win the game, let's make a fun thing on the Net for people to ignore, it has the secrets of the universe!

YAY!

I love the idea of wikis, but I hate their reliance on the stupid camelBack style. How deeply is that built in?

Speaking of collaborative sites, here's a plug for SITO.

Metababy doesn't look back quite yet to me- it just has a link to robotskull's metaness, a one page thing inspired by metababy. It's kind of fun, but nowhere near as addictive as metababy. Greg said he was going to put the page back up today- but considering he's got a job and a family with two kids, I don't imagine that metababy is exactly the highest priority in his life.
...by the way, if you haven't been to Greg's web page yet, go right now. It's excellent.

lirp and dogwelder - it seems you're still getting the older version of the metababy page. you should no longer be seeing the link to metaness.

you're still getting the older version

Ah. Hm. Any suggestions? I've tried in more than one browser from more than one computer, but still only metaness.

Try 208.33.60.221. Mebbe it's a DNS thang.

Well, at least it works on the home machine...

Well, it looks like some jackass kiddie has gone through and deleted all but three of the pages. Gotta love the collaborative spirit of the web.
