It's excruciatingly painful being green

Kermit has not done well since the death of Jim Henson...He's covered some sad songs , poured his heart out on myspace and picked up a new addiction.
damn it. at least I linked more than just the youtube, oh well. I may go back to just commenting, my last 2 or 3 posts were doubles, so I'm obviously perpetually behind the times.

It's not a double, I was just pointing out the previous post that linked the "Hurt" video.
That last post was rather lazy compared to this.

He seems perfectly happy in the company of his fans though.

Disney are going to destroy this pretty soon. We're in that weird but short privilege of creative expression that's outside of corporate rule.

Heh. I've hit 3-4 doubles in a row before. There's only so much cool shit out there, and a whole lot of it is already here.

You say that like corporations aren't going to collapse under their own ostentatious energy consumption profiles sooner or later.
Or that they'll otherwise somehow suddenly grasp a clue sufficient enough to outwit legions of highly skilled, extremely bored teenagers with way too much free time on their hands.
They haven't ever grasped one yet, what makes you think they'll start now?
Keep lettin' those cats out of the bag, kids!

I hadn't heard the version of him singing Rainbow Connection in minor. I agree, this isn't a double. It's a good post. :)
I am shocked that Disney's let it go on though. Not really like them to allow something of this nature to develop so far along.

You know it just ain't easy, and Kermie's arrest in Portland back in 2002 is just one more marker on the long road down. Pity.

Kermit isn't bad, but the backup singer - is it supposed to be Fozzie? - sucks.

I really really hate it when people take something innocent from my childhood and pervert it, or destroy it. Please stop doing that.

None of this is as disturbing as Kermit's shilling for Ford's hybrid SUVs, because unlike the fan-generated stuff, this is officially sanctioned.

As far as the content goes, it's no worse than Meet the Feebles, which is to say that this sort of thing has been done better and on a grander scale before. And I'm not sure which side of the line between "poignance" and "queasy exploitation of Jim's premature death for the sake of a weak joke" the use of that photo in the Hurt video ends up on. I am certain, however, that it's got some atrocious lip-sync at times and the fact that they left that stuffing/foam in his head makes it worse.
As for Kermit showing up in commercials, it primarily bothers me because that's one of the most visible things they've got him doing. It wouldn't be so bad if they were at least actually doing a show or a movie. But the Muppets always relied on commercials for extra income, and they did a lot of them. So while you may not like it, it's always been that way. The Cookie Monster even got his start (sort of) because of the commercials.

SilverTail, I assumed the back up songer was supposed to be that huge muppet, the one who sells them the car in the muppet movie, and wants to go to hollywood.

I always thought they should have put Kermit to rest when Jim Henson died. It doesn't seem right for someone else to be doing the voice. Nobody else has ever sounded right to me.
