The Puppini Sisters

In light of all of the recent genre-crossing cover posts on MetaFilter [1, 2], here's another. The Puppini Sisters cover such classics as Wuthering Heights, Heart of Glass and I Will Survive in 1940s style jazz. Enjoy.
I love this stuff. :)
I have to admit, there's one thing I find somehow missing in people who try to do the 40s style harmonies now... and that's their presentation doesn't have the same feel of deceitfully effortlessly-seamless unison that the old groups had. I find myself always aware that there are three people singing, where as when I hear The Boswell Sisters or Andrews Sisters, they just feel so much like one voice and are so TIGHT musically that I'm perpetually in awe. I just love that stuff though... so cool. Thanks.

Swing died 10 years ago. Can't we just let it rest in peace?

These were pretty good grapefruitmoon. But these sisters were quirkier, and had tighter harmonies. Scroll down to the today show appearance - tight.

Aw, sorry, Pa. I'll keep my gramophone down next time. Honest.
Great post, grapefruitmoon! I love this stuff.

i_cola: Thanks for that, it's awesome. One of my coworkers and I frequently "sing" the Super Mario Bros. song at work - next time someone makes fun of us for it, I will remind them that it's an "art piece, from Japan."
