He seems like a really cool guy. Unfortunately, he died a few months after the video was made. And yes, gottabefunky, through his friggin' face.

How worried should we be that the video is in the category "Howto & D.I.Y"?

I know it's gross and offputting, but I found the frank conversation between everyone in the video (apparently all relatives) to be touching. They mention the surgery was done because of some kind of cancer, although I'm not sure what kind. Anyway, I thought it was more than just *omg eye missing*

It's disconcerting to be so graphically reminded that we're just so much meat, but it's encouraging to be reminded that said fact does not preclude us from having dignity and poise.

Yes, there was so much dignity in that video.
"Har, har, fart, snort, hey gramp Chuck, Im'a stick my dick in that thing."
"Whaaaa. . . Mildred is that you? *cough*"
"You be quiet Kevin. Haw, always keepin' an eye out for ma, ey dad? Ha!"
"Whaa . . . It's cold in here. *cough*"
"I'm sure it is. Hey, gramps what should we have dinner tonight - just thought I'd pick your brain. Oh, I went there!
Seriously though, gramps can I touch your brain?"
". . . *cough* . . . *cough* Whaa?. . ."

Sounds like a bunch a people dealing with one of their own having a cancerous chunk of his face removed. They, and he, sound like he's happy to be alive. I think that if a loved one of mine survived some shit like that and still managed to have that disposition I'd be pretty impressed. I could give two shits what he looked like.
This rocked.

I was fascinated as well by the fact that, for many people, this would be a horrifying disfigurement - one would expect a significant change in self-image and personality. Instead, he just seems to be taking it in stride.
I was impressed - I'd like to be a bit more like Uncle Chuck, personally.

OK, I can't do it. I can't look, can someone just tell me what the guy looks like? I'm guessing a horribly disfigured guy without an eye and maybe you can see his brain or something. Just tell me.
I had a friend whose father contracted a fungus from their dairy barn that litterally ate his face. It go into his sinuses and worked it's way through his head. They kept removing parts hoping to save him, but it killed him in the end.
I now have a fear of barns.
