My favorite version of "With A Little Help From My Friends" has always been Joe Cocker at Woodstock.

Oops, the audio is out of sync with the picture in that one, sorry... Just listen to it without watching lol. (the other one labelled "woodstock" on YouTube is not Woodstock).

I just realized I'd never actually seen video of Joe Cocker before. What's up with him? Is it acid, is he in his own little world, both?

His trousers are definitely their own little world. Notice Belushi left that aspect out of his impression.

I remember hearing that Cocker wasn't expecting belushi to come out doing an impression and was pretty offended by it at the time. not sure if that's just a rumor, though.

This was quite a gem.
SNL is right next to Sting on that list of things that went from amazing and cool to lamest thing on the planet.

Damn it, I was planning on making a Cocker post. (I wouldn't have thought to tie it to Belushi though, so well done.)

This is from 1976. I'm pretty sure I saw it when it was on TV or soon afterwards. I remember being freaked out since I had no idea who Cocker was or why he was moving around like that and Belushi's presence just made it weirder. I think I assumed Cocker had something wrong with him. He was also on the short list I've had of people who I thought were dead but weren't. He's got a pretty extensive website including a page about the foundation he runs with his wife: Cockers Kids.

I saw an interview with him once and he said that he was so drunk/high at Woodstock that as they were helicoptering him in to the show, he had to open the window and puke on the crowd below.

Which always created a funny visual in my mind. A bunch of hippies pointing and looking up at the sky, saying, " oh wow, check out the groovy helicopters man..." SPLASH!
"not cool, man, not cool"

Does anyone know when the second video is from, and am I correct to assume that was on SNL too?

I don't think Cocker was much into psychedelics... he was a very heavy drinker.
