Mitheral, your woodpecker on a fence is quite nice.

Thanks, it's a great wallpaper because of all the white space.

The "most populars" tend to run heavily towards space and fantasy themes.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I was bummed that there's no grouping by aspect ratio, considering that landscape vs traditional 4:3 monitors splits a good percentage of the audience down the middle. Also, weird that there's no organization by pixel size.

And I knew I could find at least one lolcat waiting to happen.
Again, nothing wrong with that. I have my own cats on my wallpaper as we speak. Urm, type.

For those in search of nice wallpapers, one of my current fave sites for them is interfacelift, which jonson's wish made me just remember.
Why do we put 'wallpaper' on our 'desktops' underneath 'windows', anyway? It's all too surreal.

jonson, if you're on any of the browse pages you can filter by a particular aspect ratio by clicking "Nothing" next to the "filtering" label.

Does anyone know where I can get decent pirate related wallpapers in 1600x1200? There seems to be a dearth of them lately.

Did someone ask for high resolution images of smut?

yep!
I really want to try the stuff but haven't been able to find it in Vancouver.
I had a Path(ology/Plant)535 class where the professor told us that the swollen smut-infected corn-seed was teh yummy, but smut-infected stalk tasted like - corn stalk.

For the lack of widescreen, the kingdom was lost.

Mandolux. That's where you go for interesting, widescreen (and dual-monitor) wallpapers. But I like many of these too, thanks Mitheral.

I did have a look through those, thank you. However the problem is those vector wallpapers seem to me to be a COLOUR!EXPLOSION!WHOOOSSHHH! and look like they where designed by someone on something. Cutesy name aside, most of the stuff on Pixelgirl looks like its for a 12 girl in Harajuku.
InterfaceLIFT (sorted by 1680x1050 and most downloaded, but there are other sorting options) site isn't bad.
