I AM U

The I AM University honors all religions, Spiritual teachers, Spiritual paths, Spiritual texts, gurus, yogis, Masters, Spiritual centers, schools of thought, mystery schools, channels, healers, prophets, saints, sages, Spiritual leaders, counselors, philosophies and psychologies, all of humanity, all Kingdoms, and all Light, Love and Power Workers around the world! The I AM University seeks to offer an integrated and balanced approach to Self and God Realization. If what has been given inflames within you a spark of inspiration and aspiration to dedicate your life to the evolution of consciousness, both personal and planetary, then it will have served its purpose and bear the fruit it was intended to.

From the FAQ.

Q: How can I know that I am actually participating in the inner plane training programs and curriculum of the I AM University?

A: Everybody attends classes at night while they sleep, whether they are aware of it or not. Even while we are awake in this world (of outer consciousness), the greater part of our consciousness is active on the inner plane, going through inner plane trainings, doing planetary service work and so forth. We are consciousness, not physical bodies. Our Monad, which as a spark of God is our true identity, extends a 144th part of its energy through our outer/Earthly consciousness. Our Earthly consciousness, which most of humanity identifies with, is just a fraction of the totality of our consciousness.

You will automatically be taken in your sleep state to work in whatever program you are currently working with on Earth. To see which Earthly correspondence course correlates with which inner plane training program, please see the “inner/outer plane training correlation”. It helps if you “set the intent” to go to the inner plane I AM University before you fall asleep for it will gear your consciousness in the right direction and help you become more “conscious” of what you do on the inner planes. You will go there, whether you are aware of it or not for energy follows thought; however, the more “consciously” you are involved with the I AM University through studying and applying its curriculum, the easier it will be for you to remember your inner plane experiences and retain what you learn. We are pleased to offer the following service, "Specialized Externalization Sessions for 8 Inner Plane Programs", to help you become more aware of your training on the inner plane.

ummmmm..... Yeah.

Also, I note with interest that despite their inclusive talk, they've obviously got their own idea of metaphysics that is represented above other ideas as evidenced by this bit from the bottom right: "The I AM University seeks to unify and synthesize all facets of God and recognizes each of the Twelve Kingdoms as a beautiful expression of the Divine!"

Twelve Kingdoms? So, they've already decided that there are these Twelve Kingdoms and that in order to participate in their synthisis I have to subordinate any metaphysical ideas I might have that don't include "Twelve Kingdoms" to their own imperialistic views.... Not very New Age of them, now is it?

Sounds like the English department at my school, with a touch less postcolonial theory.

A: We charge what we charge because we have prosperity consciousness and not poverty consciousness.

I'm down with that, but does that mean I have to swap my prosperity consciousness for a poverty consciousness in order to attend?

I like the part where the original guru, Dr. Josh Stone, is now dead and the university is run by Guru Josh's former and much younger looking personal assistant.

I was raised in an I AM cult in Montana; specifically, this one, previously mentioned on Metafilter here.

The idea of "spritual universities" on "inner planes" goes way back in the I AM movement. These cults keep ripping each other off- ideas about Ascended Masters, spiritual retreats and inner planes started with Helena Blavatsky and continued in a variety of splinter groups through the 20th century, most notably the I AM Movement started by "Godfre and Lotus Ray King", better known as Guy and Edna Ballard.

The group I grew up in started not long after Guy's death; Mark and Elizabeth Prophet started the group in 1959 and based their "teachings" wholesale on the I AM Movement's original schtick, though they certainly embellished and elaborated on the original Masters. Now that that group has declined due to the leader's illness and a failed apocalypse prediction, other groups like the I AM University are now selling the same old line to the same old suckers.

Geez. I'm not sure how I survived high school...
