Amazoning the news

Amazoning the news It seems weird at first, but maybe I would want to see the news this way... Anyone want to do it? (via nublog)
I like it, but what a big job if it's going to be more than a gussied-up RSS feed.

Is it? You make a post, categorize it - then the database generates it... (thinking out loud)

Many of the elements mentioned make sense. I don't think those sample pages are necessarily the best layout. Especially since the complete news story is still another click away. Certainly the "related news stories" add a lot of stickyness.

I think the Amazon interface is appealing because there are no ads, or what "ads" there are are for other content on the site that is really related to what you're doing. People actually look at the stuff in the sidebars at Amazon because it's valuable information, not just unrelated advertisements.
