As stock prices plummet, Salon.com continues to think of imaginative new ways to make a profit. This article, is of course, a joke. But not too far from the future, I'm sure. Are there any other ways to make money on the web besides porn and ebay?

If I took the satire seriously I would let them know I would not pay a cent til they dumped Paglia. Horowtiz may be twit but he does not come off distaianful of everything and everyone but himself.

I asked the people in my company to send me examples of profitable pure play internet companies that did not include porn and gambling. No responses. And we do advertising for new media! Can anyone here name more than six?

Etrade is profitable the quarters it's not spending gazillions on Super Bowl ads.

Amazon books is profitable.

Yahoo is profitable (though much of that is from growth of its investments, which haven't been growing too much lately).

Ebay.

But, no, I can't think of others.
