NYGirl of my dreams. Romance in the technological age. :)
It's always been something of a personal guideline that if I have to draw an arrow pointing to a picture of myself to state that I'm "not insane" I may need to reevaluate my life-choices.

I admire his gumption, but it makes me feel a little bad for the guy, like he's fifteen and wants to date an ideal, not an actual human being. There must be 50,000 girls who look like this in New York. Go forth and talk to one of them, Patrick.

Still I wish it had been for me. Maybe I'll type up something on my type writer about about how sad this is making me, scan it and post it to my blog while listening to the kinks on vinyl and playing a Wes Anderson movie on mute in the background.

Anyone who's lived in New York knows that the hypothetical "girl of your dreams" (or guy) is everywhere. You can't throw a rock without hitting someone good looking in this town. It's when you start talking to them, however, you realize it isn't that easy.

It really isn't that hard to meet girls in New York -- unlike other places, you can simply strike up a conversation and see how it goes.
People here are surprisingly friendly... you just need a combination of fearlessness and respectfulness to meet girls.

Me, little kitty
Sat across with a velvet jacket
Wild orange hair and dark, dark eyes
I gawked like a twelve-year-old - smitten
Carla the stripper,
Straight from l.a.
You seem cool for a naked chick in a booth
Lets be pals some day
In other words,
Put some clothes on and call me
I saw you
It was incredible
Slim, relax,
Fine wine at the (qfc)
On a snowy saturday night
Black pearls and I swear you were drinkin beer
You were the redhead behind the counter there
Im the one who fell off his chair there
You had your dry-cleaning and I think youre dreaming
I saw you
It was incredible
Mumbled these words at you
Unintelligible

Oh -- and DNS propagations are pretty wild these days. The days of buying a domain and waiting two days is pretty passe. I was floored when the last domain I set up was live in two different parts of the world within 30 minutes...

Eponysterical.
Why is this eponysterical? Because robocop is bleeding is describing an action he took that will likely lead to someone else bleeding? Are these good-looking people he hits with rocks likely to be robocops? Is any comment he makes that mentions blood or the possibility of bleeding eponysterical? What if he mentions a law enforcement officer that is neither robotic nor injured--is that still eponysterical?

Dear Patrick,
I'm pretty sure I don't know her. I haven't ridden the 5 train to Bowling Green in awhile, since I moved from downtown Brooklyn years ago. Oh wait, I did ride it like a year-and-a-half ago to go to a friend's party in Dumbo, but that's a distant sob from 9:30pm on Nov. 4, 2007. It was a fun party, though. Excellent crab dip.
Come to think, she does look a bit like my friend Sarah, but I'm pretty sure the shorts-over-tights look isn't her style. Although who knows, I haven't seen her in like a month or two. This city, I tell ya. So yeah, what the hell - I'll ask her. If you don't hear back from me though, you can pretty much count me out help-wise. Cheers.

You can't throw a rock without hitting someone good looking in this town.
Aim towards Ditmars Boulevard near the park.
This kind of shit is a product of being in your twenties and thinking that romance is blooming everywhere and that everyone is checking you out as a possible sex partner or mate. Then you're in your thirties and you become invisible. As David Foster Wallace said 'What other people think of you becomes less important when you realize how rarely they do.'

How is that guy a hipster? He's just some skinny guy with an iPod and a hoodie.
No, he's a guy who draws himself with an iPod and a hoodie. Now obviously he wanted to represent himself as he appeared on the subway, but still.

I never knew. But I ride the 5 train wearing a hoodie and iPod all the time. In Chuck Taylors. Maybe I am this guy.
But I'm short and not skinny. Is there hope for me?

My hipster stereotype meter is overloading on this one.
I got bingo! On two cards! Pay up, bitches!
Wait, what the fuck is this? A Pabst? In a can!? A bike bag!? A Dashboard Confessional mixtape? A tape!? What. The. Fuck!? No. No!! Money. I paid real money for all these goddamn bingo cards, I want my winnings paid in the same.

Wait, I'm tall and skinny I've been riding the 5 train in a hoodie and jeans and old-school Pumas since 1975. And I'm totally not insane! So am I a aging hipster or just a creepy superannuated nerd? At least I'm not cyberstalking cute young women.

i'm not tall or skinny, and have very little hair, but i'm afraid that i must (after 7-8 years of denying it) finally self-identify as a hipster because i: listen to indie rock, ride a bicycle, wear $1 t-shirts, and occasionally drink cheap beer, especially in bars (i also drink good beer when i'm feeling flush). PBR is not bad. neither is Old Milwaukee or Busch. please don't hate me.
in my twenties, i would fall in love at first sight with all sorts of women. after the 13th or so time, i realized it probably wasn't love.
also, for goodness sake, TALK TO WOMEN (AND MEN) WHOM YOU THINK YOU MIGHT LIKE. indeed it can be very painful to be embarrassed with a bad response, but it's over in a few minutes and preferable to never knowing what might have happened.
btw, has anyone called the number yet? that seemed like an incredibly bad idea.

Okay, fine. That word gets tossed around way too often, and it's something not many will admit to falling into the category of. Mea culpa.
The website just had all the makings of a Sad Diner comic, and/or seemed derivative of an Adrian Tomine New Yorker cover. I guess I'm just a cynical, sad, snarky person.

It seems to me like this is a cute little piece of art done by a young artist after his heart fluttered for some stranger on a train. Nothing more. It seems the word "viral" is thrown at anything designed to draw attention to itself these days.
YES, he is probably trying to promote himself and his art. YES, he probably hopes the girls sees it, too. Why can't it be both? At least in the former, he has been incredibly successful already. Well done, young Patrick. I hope you get some work out of this.
