There really should be more than one comment in here. How about an update.
As of January the 15th, 2002 the last county in England remaining officially classified 'At Risk' from Foot & Mouth Disease - Northumberland - was given the all-clear. This was DEFRA's statement on New Years Eve 2001 when Cumbria, Durham and North Yorks were similarly certified clear of FMD
