BikeIcons isn't the best site, but it has the best bikes!

Just cruise around and look at old bicycles.

1890s bikes. That's where I'm a Viking Girl!

Viking Girls and Jaguar Boys would be an awesome title for... uh... something.

The bike of my dreams? A Trek Madone. Sadly, it was about $7,300 over my budget. Yeah, I know, carbon fiber has spoiled me. It would be mighty hard to complain about a shiny new steel Bianchi, though.

For the Jaguar Boys fans, also check out the Monark Super Deluxe. It's a beaut.

That Schwinn Krate. Small front tire. 5 speed. front wheel suspension and a smooth ass ride. Had a relation who would let me ride it occasionally. Brings back memories. Damn what a genius little bike, hard to find though....

What?! No Raleigh Superbe? No Hetchins Magnum Opus? No Flying Scots? You're going to have to do better than gaspipe clunkers (with no bloody front brake) to get into my childhood dreams, laddie ...

Your favorite bike... well, you know.

Seriously, with bikes it's all good.

None of those bikes has appeared in any of my dreams thus far. But I enjoyed the mullet.

I have an affinity for vintage bicycles and I've wanted one of those early 60s chrome Spaceliners for a while now. I have '67 Schwinn Collegiate and a JC Higgins bike very similar to this.

If you like these cruisers, visit Brian's Bicycle Repair in Colorado Springs and ask to look in the basement..

scruss: If you're more interested in great racing and touring bikes of the past, you can do worse than check Classic Rendezvous or Chuck Schmidt's Velo Retro. Hey look! Drillium!

Also, I was pleasantly surprised last month to learn that Mercian hadn't become a brand name bought at auction by a holding company in California to rebadge crap frames from China.

also, there's the Playboy of the vintage bike world -- Vintage Bicycle Quarterly. Folks claim to read it for the articles but they're really just subscribing for the Rene Herse centerfolds
