I could use one. I just bought some nice shoes from discount store, where half the fun is guessing what will end up being wrong with whatever you just bought for almost nothing. In this case it's that the left shoe is less shiny than the right.

In the most recent Wes Anderson movie "The Darjeeling Limited" (a very attractive movie about very expensive luggage) - there was a funny/offensive bit where the Owen Wilson character stops to get his shoes shined and the shoe-shine boy takes the shoe and runs away. I cheered for the boy.

Some nice links that a sneaker-wearing culture probably can't relate to.
