I hate to say it, but I found the first three minutes of that song really repetitive and uninteresting. I liked his dad so I was expecting more from his network debut I guess. I'll try clicking on the other links though, maybe he'll change my mind...

Yes it takes a while to get going, but it built to a pretty impressive crescendo. Thanks.
I can't believe Neil Finn would have such a grown up kid. They must breed pretty early in the antipodes.

(what's happened to Paul Schaffer's voice? It's gone all husky. He sounds like Bleeding Gums Murphy)

As a die-hard Crowded House/Neil Finn fan, I am actually far more impressed with Liam's new album than with the new Crowded House one.

I remember when Liam made a guest appearance on drums at my first Neil Finn show, on the Try Whistling tour in 1998- he was about fifteen then, and he just seemed so cool to my also-fifteen year old self...

I saw him a couple weeks ago in Minneapolis. Had the same reaction as miss lynster and es_de_bah. Most of his songs were made up of the same three chords, strummed more or less in the same rhythm. The pedals/loops, etc. were interesting, as was his frenzied drum playing. Really liked "I'll Be Lightning" (the song, haven't heard the whole album) though.

I suppose the real highlight was him calling one of the opening acts a "good cunt" and then having to explain that particular bit of NZ/AUS slang to the confused audience.
