Hopefully this leap into the 21st century will bring many more people into the folds of the rigorously predictive science of astrology.

As usual, least badass zodiac sign ever. -Skorgu
I don't know, at least your not picking flowers next to a quiet stream.
These are awesome regardless.

Word. Capricorns? Oh, no, we don't need anything as fun-making as a nifty image....

Do you have to have 3D glasses for this to work? Mine just looks like a well-shadowed drawing to me.

Just wait. He'll get what's coming to him.

This is some very nice 3D, it's gotta be Photoshop enhanced. If not, I'd love to see some short animations of these icons. The guy has a visual style that I find way more appealing than most CG renders.

I call shenanigans. Nothing leapt out of my screen causing me to reach forward mystically and hypnotically as though it had materialized in the very ether 'twixt me and my monitor.
Unless the third dimension cited in the thread is the time it took to look at these pretty 2-D artworks.

Seems like you guys are being a bit obtuse... They are 3D in that the base of the image is rendered from 3-Dimensinonal computer models. Then I'm pretty sure he takes that rendering into Photoshop and does hours of work on it.
I'm just guessing of course. Maybe they're just drawings or paintings, but I doubt it.

Not really. They're very detailed and nice illustrations. They just don't look 3-D, so I was surprised.

I was half-hoping this was going to be some kind of 3d astronomy chart, where you could zoom around and shift your perspective by light-years at a time, seeing how the patterns of stars shift around. Maybe see what Orion looks like from Alpha Centauri.
These are okay. I do like that someone's using 3d modeling to make images that can't be made another way, rather than yet again trying to make a face that looks just like a photograph. Every medium has its strengths. Let's leave photorealism to photos, unless you're making something you can't possibly take a photo of.

desjardins: we are trapped in a net because the artist needed something to contain us, because it's easier to put the most badass in confinement than to try to make all of the others cool enough to match.
We will break through those ropes, though. We always do.
And no, rtha, you never want to be on our bad side. Ever.

He's using 3ds MAX (plus a little bit of Photoshop post-processing I suppose). It's funny that with 3D computer graphics being used in pretty much every commercial and movie nowadays (even if it's just for subtle, near-invisible effects), lots of people - even fellow graphic artists, in my experience - are still unaware of how it's done.
