Do Your Strip Comic Exhibit

Do Your Strip: A hopeful book and exhibition where 70 artists and illustrators invent a character, provide instructions on how to draw it, then create the first comic adventure. Exhibit-goers would then create additional stories with their favorite characters. All the characters, instructions, and first strips can be seen here [pdf].
My favorites? Toma and Yassine. Karine Bernadou. Mr. Clement. (links go to artists' personal websites)

Coolness. I love the art in the pdf. It looks like a lot of the artists were like, "hmm, what can I make out of this squiggly line I started out with?" I wish I could do that sort of thing with character design.
The website can go die in a fire.

It is unfortunate the website was so lacking, but I couldn't just ignore the content because of it. The pdf of all the strips is really the best part.
I also had the hope that additional publicity (even if it were "only" Metafilter) would help them find a host for the exhibit. There's cartoon museums in SF and NYC, but it would also be amazing at any art museum or even a children's museum.
Who knows... maybe in a few months I'll be able to update this post with a location and dates. ;)
