I can imagine in the near future the Bush administration charging Guantamano detainees for having provided entertainment.

Yet another project of Creative Time. This is part of our Democracy in America project, of which I'm especially proud. Recent Previous Creative Time projects on MeFi can be found here and here.

The first time I saw this story, I thought they were charging people admission to try waterboarding.
Which might not be such a bad idea. Seems like it's an eye-opening experience for the "It's not torture" crowd.

w0mbat, mrmojoflying and cmoj: I apologise if the lack of timeliness detracts from the information and any value in the article. I further apologise for not having seen the linked article in any of the sources you mention until today, when I Googled it having seen a photo of the exhibit in the Guardian's "photos from around the world" section. I shall endeavour to read everything you three read in order that this never happen again.
I shall also remember that everyone else reading MetaFilter will have read everything you have read, and never post anything if it is linked to on the above sources again, or any other source that you may or may not read on a daily, regular or infrequent basis.
Almost everyone's read something that's posted before such posting at least once - most people are polite enough to say "Oh, I saw this and thought X", or even just "Oh yeah, I saw this" if they have nothing of value to add but merely wish to indicate that they are ahead of the curve.
Or maybe you three are honestly trying to recollect, and I've completely misconstrued the meaning of your statements, implying dismissive 'this is old news to everyone' snark where there is none. Please let me know.
Shit, I mean, this pisses me off a bit. I saw the Bourdin article on Kottke before it was posted, and also in the New Yorker. Did I post a snarky line? Did I fuck. Just move on. To everyone else, sorry about the rant. Have a look at The Bellman's links, they're also very interesting.

I was most offended that the guy didn't want to be called a "barker." If you adopt a profession, shouldn't you have pride in it?

in this case there’s SpongeBob SquarePants saying, “It don’t Gitmo better!”
The black-garbed interrogator robot should squeeze the water out of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Instead of using waterboarding, the US could hire djgh to alternately bore prisoners solid with played-out news stories, and wake them up with ranting.

Seriously w0mbat, you could probably just shut the fuck up and Metafilter would be a better place.
Maybe unclench a little or something, not everyone finds this stuff
