Hoogerbrugge flash

Darkly funny flash Friday, click on the image, recent works: Public Opinion, Penis Envy [nsfw], World Peace, Crime and Punishment, No News and Year of the Pig by Dutch artist, Han Hoogerbrugge.
A little about the artist. Previously, previously, previously, previously. And his Hotel, an interactive tale.
Interview: The main character in almost all his work is Hoogerbrugge himself – or rather a warped, twitched and confused reflection of himself. He presents his existentialist vision of life in the turbulent (Western) world laced with offbeat humor and rich irony.

Man, I always forget how much I love this guy's work. But then I get to rediscover it all over again.

Ditto. Someone began showing me his site five or six years ago and it just floats in and out of my life. He's got a great graphic sense.

A warped, twitched and confused reflection of himself is pretty much how I approach life, so this is right up my alley.

On my first "try" at the Crime and Punishment one, I had them banging their heads in perfect sync. Kinda eerie.

Very good. Like an online version of the newspaper cartoon. Maybe one day all newspaper websites will employ flash designers to make similar things.

The pensis are pretty cool. When I put all of them together it's like being in the opening sequence of a Monty Python episode.

I'm a big time fan of the hoogerbrugge but I'm growing a little tired of the black and white illustration/animation AKA 'The same old thing'.
WYSIWYG is, to my mind, one of their more extraordinary works though. It takes it out of the net, puts it in the streets, and causes people to deal with what is a difficult subject. We have no control over what is sent over the txt message but people in proximity to the installation are exposed and have to deal with it. Censor the message or tell the people to move on? It's almost like real life (or isn't). I like it very much.

Sure enough, I feel the urge to go find someone to acquit.
