I should like to offer a dissent over which Cartesian axis these canines are rotated; to wit, I believe they are in fact supine...

So...I take it you've never owned a dog.
They're pretty good at getting that way themselves.

I have seen this in my nightmares. Its name is Rufus. It tells me to burn things.
This one is cheating, it's not actually upside-down. They just rubbed his back on a balloon and stuck him to the ceiling.
I love this more than I feel comfortable admitting. Great link.

Why do some dogs insist on having their forepaws by their muzzles when they are on their backs, but many others don't seem to prefer this? I've always wondered.
Thanks for the link, my wife should get a kick out of this.

"Roll over! C'mon, roll over! DASAGOODDOGGY! WHOSAGOODDOGGY?!"
or why.
During the vast majority of canine evolution, dogs were standing up. Floppy ears, pendulous jowls, and facial folds that would normally be hanging down due to gravity are transmuted into a puddle of dawg humor by rolling over.

My dog refuses to go upside down. He hunkers down clings to the earth with his nails like nobodies business. I think he can actually increase his specific gravity at will. Roll over. Come on. I want to take a funny picture of you. Please. Roll over. C'mon. ROLL.

<humorless pedant>Of course, the upside down dog is in a submissive position, so we're inclined to think it's cute, as it means the dog is submitting.</humorless pedant>
... but I wish I thought of it first. This is why the web can still be fun and pointless.

Yeah, it took me a few seconds, but as soon as I figured out it wasn't part of the page but a banner ad, I simultaneously thought, "how annoying," and, "that's effective advertising." Still, sneaky and a bit deceptive.

My old dog always used to love getting her stomach scratched. When I came home, she would automatically roll over on her back and refuse to move--no matter how inconvenient her location--until she was scratched thoroughly.

When Good Dogs Go and Crossbreed
Malamute + Pointer =
Moot Point, owned by....oh, well, it doesn't matter anyway
Cocker Spaniel + Rottweiller =
Cockrot, the perfect puppy for that philandering ex-husband
Bull Terrier + Shitzu =
Bullshitz, a gregarious but unreliable breed

They do all this to compensate for the fact that they can't look up.

Mine lolled around in the back yard ridiculously and looked an awful lot like the second dog down. I say mine since he kinda was but he was really my parents' and I haven't been back to visit since he died. Christmas is going to hurt a little this year.

This concept completely validates my love of bulldogs.
I do have one criticism: while I appreciate anyone who names their dog Tauntaun, this particular pup is just begging to be Falcor.

While not knowing what to expect, I did not expect this. And, with that surprise factor in play, this is one of the weirdest, freakiest thing I've seen on the web in years. And I smiled.
And: 'ja ever play the game where you have a staring contest, no blinking, and you know the part where your opponent's face starts to get all weird 'cuz you haven't blinked? Try that game with one person upside down, say, on a couch. You. will. be. freaked.
