The way things were? A recent study indicated that there is a continuing segregation going on in all of our larger cities, with whites increasingly moving to burbs.
My first job was because a guy I replaced was arrested in a Freedom march in Miss. and refused bail andspent some time in jail...good for me; bad for him. But he was heroic. I am not.

True true...i don't think i got my whole thought out in that post...i'm not THAT idealistic and naive to think things are so great now, but they are better in some respects...
i suppose a better way of looking at things would be this:
Some things have changed, some things have not, how do we continue to change things?

Thanks for the post darren. What a reminder of our recent past in the South. Just remember kiddies, it's not hate, its' heritage. A heritage of hate. Fly the southern swastika proudly boys! Don't worry, Trent Lott will defend you from the pinkos.

I strongly suggest that everyone celebrate this by picking up Taylor Branch's two books on America in the King years -- they're as good as history gets.
